We are currently seeking DDS Mechanical Team Lead to join our maintenance team at our North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM). NARM is the world’s largest surface coal mine and is located in Wright, Wyoming. The mine produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves. 

As part of Campbell County, Wright is a safe, tight-knit community with outstanding schools, and various recreational opportunities. 

Peabody’s NARM Mine has a safety-first culture and strives to have zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents. 

The DDS Mechanical Team Lead is responsible to ensure that employees & contractors are provided an amicable, safe and productive work environment. Ensuring Maintenance and mechanical Management policies and procedures are in place and adhered to and equipment strategies are maintained to Peabody safety & reliability standards. This is achieved through the application of the Peabody Standards and Best Practices, effective leadership and collaboration with direct reports and principal contacts.

The role will also be responsible for effective execution of Maintenance Work Management plans and objectives. This will aid in achieving optimum levels of equipment utilisation and reliability and ensure safe, cost-effective coal production and mine plan compliance.

  • Lead the Peabody Maintenance Work Management Standard and Best Practices
  • Ensure equipment condition monitoring is being undertaken, prioritized and actioned in the appropriate time frame.
  • Ensure Defect Management Polices & Procedure are aligned with Peabody Best Practices are actively used and defects are tracked SAP.
  • Work with each department to ensure planning & execution is optimized and there is efficient use of all resources at the mine.
  • Communication and consultation across all departments as required, to ensure equipment maintenance is effective and realistic.
  • Ensure weekly Maintenance execution plans are discussed daily with both Maintenance & Production execution teams.
  • Timely escalation of maintenance issues that impact safety of people or production to all department heads.
  • Compliance with the site safety management system and SAWOL-MS and Site Safety & Training polices
  • Ensure compliance with Peabody purchasing polices and expenditure authority.
  • Demonstrate proactive safe leadership to all employees and contractors by utilizing safety tools and Peabody policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork commitments by fostering the culture of good communication using appropriate mediums to communicate all relevant issues to team members.

Role Structure

  • Direct Reports – 4x DDS Maintenance General Foreman, 1x Planning & Reliability Supervisor, 1x Maintenance Trainer, 1x Maintenance Admin Assistant.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Maintenance qualifications (Electrical or Mechanical)
  • Formal Training with SAP and/or maintenance Planning computerized Systems
  • ICAM and/or RCA certificate of competence.
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent Maintenance & Asset Management qualifications. (Desirable)
  • Reliability Engineering certificate of competency (Desirable) 
  • MSHA Mine Foreman Qualification (WY Desirable)

 

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years Maintenance Experience
  • 5 years mining experience with electric Shovel & Draglines in a supervisory role for Production or Maintenance.
  • Human Resources Management
  • Experience in Planning & Execution Techniques
  • Understanding and knowledge of CMMS (SAP) systems.
  • Set up and maintaining Maintenance Management systems and preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Knowledge of conducting safety inspections and completing JSEA’s, Risk assessments & Permits.
  • Continuous Improvement methodology
  • High level of understanding and knowledge of the MSHA Mining Acts & Regulations.
  • Proficient in the component forecasting and budgeting
  • Proficient with Computer programs (Excel, Word, MS Project, email)

 

 

 

 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
  • Must be able to use a computer
  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Education

  • Trade certification(s) required
  • Commensurate experience
