About the role: 

We are currently seeking a Sr. HR Business Partner at our NARM complex. Our NARM complex consists of two mines located about 75 miles from Gillette, WY. This complex is the largest surface mine in the world producing thermal coal at approximately 67 million tons per year.


Reporting to the Sr. Manager HR Operations, the scope of your role will be to collaborate with the onsite HR Manager in tasks consisting of employee relations, recruiting, training, and various HR support tasks. This role will also have the autonomy to operate independently and will be responsible for supporting up to 400 employees.


Duties will include:

  • Support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values
  • Act and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
  • Serve as consultant for Employee Relations issues, policy interpretation, and disciplinary procedures. Lead investigations as required. 
  • Provide HR leadership in the promotion of a continuous improvement culture, participation project teams and provide data analysis and support
  • Support hiring activities for both professional and hourly staffing including planning, recruiting and assessing
  • Provide leadership relating to the management of change as the organization adapts
  • Provide employee relations through support and coaching to resolve issues and enable success 
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of employment and management practices
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and company policy and procedures, including AA/EEO
  • Maintain required documentation, personnel files, etc.
  • Assist in training and development of employees including front-line supervisors and lead persons
  • Provide support to business leaders in the areas of performance management, organizational development and leadership development
  • Assist with community relations and management of contributions
  • Other duties as assigned by the company


The lifestyle:

This position is offered on a Monday to Friday roster but will need to remain on call 7 days per week in case of a development at the site. This area has great schools, outdoor opportunities such as hunting, fishing and hiking.


About you:

  • 5 years of relevant professional experience required
  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management or related field required; Masters Degree preferred
  • HR certification preferred (Society for Human Resource Management, Human Resource Certification Institute, WorldatWork, or similar)


Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to use a computer, communicate effectively in various forms, including by email and phone
  • Must be able to review paper and electronic documents, complete computer entry of data from paper documents
  • Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets; discuss issues by telephone and in person
  • Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.
