About the role: 
We are currently seeking a Commercial Superintendent at our Wilpinjong Mine Site. Our Wilpinjong mine is an open cut mine located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets.

Responsibilities in this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Participate in Safety activities on site
  • Contribute to the identification and monitoring of value-adding projects and promote a positive culture of cost awareness
  • Maintain financial integrity of all accounting records (including the preparation of all GL entries with strict control over capital and operating expenditures)
  • End of month financial tasks to achieve a timely P&L submission including variance commentary.
  • Key site contract for Purchase Order related questions from operational departments   
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts and associated variance analysis and commentary
  • Maintain all SOX controls and internal control over the company’s assets and liabilities
  • Perform function of business area expert for SAP and IP
  • Assist with the preparation and review of five year plans, Life of Mine (LOM) and associated presentations
  • Prepare financial evaluations to support decisions
  • Act as Commercial Manager in their absence

This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis and can allow for a Residential lifestyle. Employees living locally may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of your mortgage interest or rental payments. 

 

About You:

  • A positive attitude, with strong communication skills
  • An ability to work autonomously in order to identify & implement improvement opportunities
  • A tertiary degree in an accounting related field
  • A strong management reporting background
  • At least 5 years post graduate experience
  • Relevant supervisory experience
  • Passion for safety as a way of life
  • Ideally experience in Supply contract evaluation
  • Ideally CA/CPA qualified
  • Ideally a background within the mining, or resources industry operating in SAP, Business Warehouse reporting and Integrated Planning (IP)
