About the role:

We are currently seeking a Analyst/Senior Analyst of Corporate Development at our corporate headquarters in St. Louis, MO

 

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development will be responsible for providing analytical support for the evaluation and execution of acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other development opportunities in accordance with the strategic plan of the company

Duties will include:

  • Work with the Corporate Development, Strategy, and Global Energy Analytics team to analyze the viability of strategic business opportunities, joint ventures, and projects for senior management to review which are consistent with the company’s strategic objectives. Including the full deal-cycle: analysis, diligence, modeling, recommendation, deal negotiation and closing.
    • Analyze various research, data sources to scan the market
    • Work with Investment Banks and other 3rd parties on analysis of opportunities including modeling and presentations
    • Develop recommendations that lead to the acquisition of viable growth opportunities for the company
  • Take an active role in organizing diligence processes, and leading modeling and analytics work.
  • Create PPT presentations summarizing business opportunities and due diligence findings. 
  • Ownership of key departmental files & tracking documents
    • CEO & SVP Corporate Development Project Tracer – collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure Project Tracker is updated and maintained with latest status on all significant corporate projects
  • Learn GEA weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual processes.  Learn and understand how market and pricing materials, supply & demand, and other industry-tracking tools are managed.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate, up-to-date global information base on competitor companies, industry transactions, projects, mergers, and divestitures.
    • Be an in-house expert on industry trends, transactions, and strategies
    • Answer ad-hoc requests from ELT members on various trends and industry dynamics
  • Provide research for potential growth opportunities, acquisition, divestitures, joint ventures, and projects.
    • Work with Investment banks and research services – IHS, WoodMac other 3rd parties
  • Take the lead in the planning and coordination of due diligence efforts across all relevant functional areas, including maintenance of internal diligence teams, manage external data rooms initiate and respond to diligence requests
  • Assist in the development of recommendations that lead to the acquisition of viable growth opportunities for the company.
  • Perform regular regional and global competitor analysis, which will include updating trading and financial comparables on a bi-weekly to monthly basis.
  • Prepare special data analyses and reports as required.
  • Coordinate key areas of annual business development strategy process – including working with other departments on timing and the review of strategy materials

This position is a full-time role based at our corporate office. Peabody offers flexible work policies, including hybrid office/home working arrangements and opportunity to finish at noon on Fridays.

 

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or economics (preferably accounting and/or finance) is required.
  •  3-5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis (investment banking, business development or corporate finance preferred).
  • A strong financial background which complements the technical expertise of the organization.
  • Has a good understanding of profit and loss and balance sheet statements are essential.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and aptitude for insuring work products are thoroughly vetted, sourced and data flows through all materials correctly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Sound economic and financial decision making.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Will be required to gather and analyze large amounts of internal and external data and ensure decisions are congruent with company-wide strategic goals.
  • Strong results-orientation and superior business sense, as well as a reputation of having consistent, sustained initiative.
  • Strong communicator, who speaks, writes and listens well. The individual must place value on sharing information and common goals, maintaining an environment of honesty, openness and energetic communication.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse situations and multitask.
  • Proactive in solving problems. An individual who understands there will be problems and has the ability to independently and logically and facilitates resolution.
  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality of potential transactions
