Job Summary

Contribute to the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and separate company financial statements. Provide supporting financial schedules to management, lending institutions and external auditors to assist in the analysis of the Company’s financial position, results of operations and cash flows. Maintain SAP financial reporting system used to consolidate financial results. 

Job Description

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Aid in the monthly consolidation process as it relates to the closing of the general ledger and recording consolidation and topside journal entries in the BCS module of SAP.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports and statements in conjunction with month-end close processes of monthly financial statements, which include balance sheet, income statement, equity rollforward and statement of cash flows, as assigned.
  • Quarterly and annually, assist with preparation of the Earning Release documents, as assigned.
  • Quarterly and annually, prepare consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and prepare tie-outs of presented information along with other SEC required reports – primarily the Annual Report on Form 10-K and the Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q.
  • Quarterly and annually, assist with the process around eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) electronic tagging of Company’s Forms 10-Q and 10-K documents filed with the SEC.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual separate company financial statements for various legal entities (used by management, statutory reporting and lenders).
  • Assist in preparation of various quarterly and annual reports and census required by the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Treasury and coal industry associations.
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of the SAP consolidation and reporting system. Maintain the chart of accounts in accordance with accounting policy and coordinate changes to the existing account and reporting structures. 
  • Work with SAP IT specialists to maintain established policies and practices as well as enhance utilization of the sytems funcionality.
  • Provide supporting schedules to assist external auditors in conducting their audits.
  • Pariticipate in speciali projects as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience
  • Prior experience in public accounting preferred
  • Completion of CPA exam desirable
  • Financial accounting and reporting knowledge and experience, especially the principles of consolidation and financial statement preparation essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); familiarity with SEC reporting requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of general ledger and financial reporting systems, SAP preferred
  • Superior problem-solving skills to quickly and effectively identify and resolve issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize work assignments and work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with members of multiple departments and skill levels
