About the role
The Senior Mining Engineer will play a key role in supporting the Wambo Tailings Rehabilitation Project while providing support for broader mining and infrastructure initiatives across Peabody’s Australian operations as required. This role involves technical planning, design, engaging geotechnical consultants and coordination, with a strong emphasis on design, sequencing, and effective stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities will include:
- Lead mining engineering and technical support for the Wambo Tailings Rehabilitation Projects.
- Develop and manage designs and operational sequencing plans.
- Liaise with the open cut mine operator to coordinate mine waste material supply and logistics.
- Provide engineering and technical support into mining and infrastructure designs at other Peabody Operations in Australia.
- Collaborate with site teams and project stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational and environmental objectives.
- Support approvals processes through technical documentation and design validation.
- Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Assist with any special projects that arise within the Technical Services Group, including but not limited to, Business Development, Continuous Improvement initiatives, Software Evaluation
- Ensure compliance with Peabody’s safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Travel to other Peabody sites as required to support mining and infrastructure initiatives.
About You:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Extensive experience in open-cut and or underground mining operations.
- Proven experience in mine design, rehabilitation planning, and mine infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, AutoCAD, Spry).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Current Australian Driver’s License.
