About the role:

We are currently seeking a Human Resources Graduate to primarily provide HR support to Wambo and Metropolitan Mine sites.


Our Metropolitan mine is an underground coal mining operation located 30 kilometers north of Wollongong in Helensburgh, NSW producing metallurgical coking coal for export and domestic customers.


Our Wambo mine complex is a combined open-cut and underground mine located 30 kilometers west of Singleton that produce metallurgical and thermal coal for export and domestic markets.


Reporting to the HR Manager of Wambo and Metropolitan Mine sites and based at Metropolitan Mine Site, the scope of your role will be to provide HR advice and administrative support to the HR Manager, management team and employees across employee relations, performance management, employee engagement and retention, recruitment, record keeping and reporting.


Duties will include:

Operational HR Service:

  • Provide high quality and timely advise to the Managers, Supervisors and employees at the mine site
  • Timely production of HR administration requirements including letters, recruitment requisitions and reports
  • Assist in specific HR projects
  • Assist in the provision of guidance for Supervisors and Managers to ensure they are informed of their obligations when managing HR issues such as Recruitment, Terminations, Employee Movements, Employee Relations etc.
  • Assist managers and Supervisors as required in disciplinary action, recruitment and selection, performance management, EEO and other areas of HR as required


Employee Administration:

  • Participate in the recruitment process when required
  • Assist in maintaining the content of HR Policies, Procedures and Forms and ensure employees are educated in their availability and function
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of individual employee details
  • Ensure a close working relationship is maintained with employees, Supervisors and Managers and ensure all staff changes (movements, remuneration, etc) are authorised and documented appropriately 


Performance Management Processes:

  • Ensure established performance management processes are being followed and provide support to Managers and Supervisors as required
  • Ensure all employees have document feedback on current performance and training and development needs

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to summarise data and provide recommendations
  • Exceptional customer service focus and relationship building skills
