About the role:
We are currently seeking a Shop Maintenance Planner to join our Diesel Shop Maintenance Team at our Twentymile Mine location. The Hourly Range for this position is between $30.74-43.16 depending on experience.
Reporting to the Maintenance Shop Coordinator. The scope of your role will be to plan and execute safe, cost-effective routine maintenance jobs in the shop and underground with directions from the Maintenance Shop Coordinator. Track, plan, and execute preventive maintenance to minimize equipment breakdown. Ensure the efficiency and success of maintenance projects through proper planning; including parts/material procurement, inventory & storage, job descriptions, material/tool staging, and onsite job supervision.
Twentymile mine is an underground coal mine located in Colorado’s scenic Yampa Valley about 20 miles outside Steamboat Springs, a ski resort and vacation destination. The surrounding area has towns both large and small including Oak Creek, Craig, Hayden, and Steamboat Springs. Hunting and fishing are very popular in this area. Shotgun and archery hunting is allowed on Peabody property for employees with proper authorization.
Peabody Twentymile has a safety-first culture and has been recognized two years in a row by the National Mining Association as the safest underground coal mine in the United Sates. The award recognizes coal and mineral mining operations with the lowest MSHA reportable injury rate. In 2023, Twentymile completed three years without a single reportable injury.
Duties will include:
· Ensure that safety of yourself and those you supervise or direct is the number one priority. This includes contributing to the continual improvement of our entire safety culture at TCC. Below outlines some of the specific items that need to be accomplished:
o Continue to champion and enhance the SAWOL system.
o Support and participate in the safety effort to ensure continual overall safety performance improvement of the Diesel department as well as the mine.
o Support and enforce all Peabody and TCC safety standards and policies.
· Ensure that all Diesel Shop Equipment is operated in compliance with MSHA requirements as well as Peabody and TCC standards. Some of the specific areas that require improvements are as follows:
o Ensure Permissibility checks are completed and documented including Fire Suppression.
o Ensure all equipment is maintained per the manufacturer’s requirements.
· Plan and coordinate daily maintenance activities with input from the diesel shop maintenance superintendent. Key items listed below:
o Provide a written maintenance plan for each shift. The plan shall include required material, staging location of required material, and any safety information pertaining to planned work. Work orders and PM work orders to be attached to daily plan as applicable.
o Coordinate materials required to complete the maintenance plan with the warehouse, vendors, and/or the materials group.
o Maintain shop floor inventory and housekeeping standards. This will include working with the shop superintendent to develop and enforce mandatory inventory and housekeeping standards.
· Improve equipment PM’s/Services. Key areas of improvement listed below:
o Modify or re-write and maintain equipment PMs as required to reflect existing, new, rebuilt, or modified equipment. Encourage recommendations from the maintenance group with modifications.
o Modify or re-write and maintain a weekly shop floor inventory.
o Modify or re-write and maintain Condition Monitoring PM’s (Oil Samples).
o Develop and implement PM frequencies for the shop equipment.
· Maintain diesel shop work orders and backlog including but not limited to the following:
o Open work orders for equipment repairs as required.
o Review and schedule work orders weekly.
o Close work orders weekly as completed including PM work orders.
o Print all PM work orders as required by time, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annually.
o Maintain condition monitoring PM’s and work orders.
· Modify and maintain Condition Monitoring program as follows:
o Schedule condition monitoring as required.
o Establish written condition monitoring frequencies per equipment.
o Modify or re-write and maintain condition monitoring PM’s.
o Maintain condition monitoring work orders.
· Develop and ensure shop standards are implemented and followed. This shall include some of the following:
o Shop clean-up
o Material handling and placement in the shop.

About you:
- Experience in project planning required.
- Mine or Heavy Industrial Maintenance experience.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance/operational manuals and equipment drawings.
- SAP maintenance and work order experience.
- Proficient with MS Office software suite.
- 2 years of experience in mining or heavy industrial setting required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical requirements:
- Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
- Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
- Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
- Must have the ability to lift/raise up to 80 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift.
- Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, water varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
- The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays

- impaired vision. Individuals must meet the minimum vison requirements of at least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) with or without correction and at least 70° field of vision in horizontal meridian measured.
