Title:  Supervisor Open Cut Mining

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor / OCE at our Wilpinjong mine. Our Wilpinjong mine is a relatively low strip open-cut coal mine located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets.

We have a mine life in the 2030s, 67M Tonnes of proven and probable coal and a great collaboration of teammates looking to extend our mine life out to the decades. Across the entire operation's stakeholder teams in plant operations, maintenance, engineering and production, we are looking for those who will deliver to plan, work effectively and collaboratively in delivering an outcome of excellence and assisting us in our innovation.

Supported by engaged and visible production superintendents and a senior production supervisor, the scope of your role will be to guide a crew of predominately permanent staff and trainees to achieve safe and effective production targets in compliance with all relevant procedures and statutes.

We are looking for someone able to demonstrate, through collaboration, a history of effective leadership and accountability in safely delivering production goals. Following on, your success in the role will be recognisable through your facilitation of the team’s achievement of high performance targeted metrics in both safety and production.

Duties will include:

• Set and demonstrate a proactive approach to health, safety and environmental standards and ensure a safe working environment is maintained.
• Demonstrate safe behaviours and provide visible safe leadership to team members.
• Ensure that risk management tools and relevant procedures are in place when planning and executing work.
• Comply with Wilpinjong policies and procedures.
• Effective utilisation of shift personnel and equipment resources to achieve the mine plan and production targets.
• Conduct mining operations in an environmentally responsible manner.
• Responsible for supervision of all contractors operating in mining areas.
• Ensure all personnel on site are trained and competent for the duties assigned.
• Identify training requirements within crew and facilitate multi skilled crews.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings with production operators.
• Be an active participant in the continuous improvement program.
• Liaise with Maintenance, Technical and other Support Services to establish Production priorities and ensure operations requirements and targets are incorporated into Production design and schedules.
• ​Liaise with maintenance department on breakdown issues and equipment requirements.

About you:

• The successful candidate will be in the process of completing an OCE qualification or be willing to obtain an OCE qualification.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an open cut mining production environment
• Demonstrated experience supervising a large workforce to positive effect in an open cut mining environment
• Valid NSW Driver's license
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Computer literacy skills
• Strong commitment to safety as a way of life
