About the role:
We are currently seeking a Day Shift Mechanical Fitter to join our Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) team at our Wilpinjong Mine. Our Wilpinjong mine is an open cut mine located 40 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high-quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets.

Reporting to the CHPP Mechanical Supervisor, the Day Shift Mechanical Fitter will acquire the skills and qualifications to be able to maintain fixed plant used to prepare coal for transportation to domestic power generators and export shipping terminals. 
 

Key duties of the role include, but not limited to: 

  • Monitor and optimise plant availability
  • Perform planned and breakdown maintenance tasks on all CHPP equipment
    • Fault-finding and repairing mechanical plant and equipment
    • Ensure all work is performed to trade standards and meets high standards
  • Complete necessary documentation, risk assessments and work orders
  • Carry out first response breakdown maintenance tasks
  • Monitor operational plant performance

About you:

  • Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter Trade Certificate or similar
  • Confined spaces, forklift and working at heights (preferred)
  • Honest and flexible attitude to tasks and required hours
  • Hands on approach to work, ability to 'get hands dirty'
  • Welding (Mig, Tig and Arc) and fabrication (highly desired)
  • Hydraulics service/ repair (highly desired)
  • Have a strong safety and risk management focus
  • Be an effective team player
