We have a team leadership position available within our preparation and processing team to lead a team striving for excellence and plant availability. As well as leading the small day to day mechanical team responding to breakdowns, the role involves a decent amount of planning and scheduling to oversee effective plant shutdowns.

 

We are in a pretty exciting phase, as we look to add to our team with those who share similar goals. Across the stakeholder teams in operations, maintenance, engineering and delivery, we are looking for those who want to innovate or love working to a high level of excellence.

 

This is a full time, Monday to Friday day shift role, working in tandem with another Mechanical Supervisor, and well supported through a Superintendent and a highly experienced Manager.

Our Wilpinjong mine is located in the western coalfields of NSW (48km north-east of Mudgee) and produces a high-quality thermal coal for domestic and export markets.

 

About the role:

 

In a nutshell, the role reports to the CHPP Manager, and is tasked with safely and efficiently leading the CHPP Maintenance crews to meet plant targets in line with production schedules. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Plan, schedule & oversee execution of shutdowns with up to 80 contractors. 
  • Actively ensuring that employees are adequately instructed and complying with all safety procedures and systems, HR policies and procedures, relevant statutory legislation.
  • Strengthening of the relationship between site leadership and delivery teams.
  • Regularly inspecting workplace for safe work practices and environment and actively promoting mine safety among the workforce.
  • Manage the crew for the delivery of plant maintenance.
  • Engaging with contractors and their teams to ensure effective strong allocations to tasks.
  • Communicating with others on site at all levels.
  • Manage breakdowns and planned maintenance on shift.
  • Ensure that CHPP safety and production targets are met.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve cost reductions and efficiency gains.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the CHPP.
  • Identifying workplace issues and resolving them in a timely manner.
  • Continuing and championing the promoting of a team culture of continuous improvement and innovation, including cost saving initiatives.

 

About you:

 

Critical to your success will be:

  • Uncompromising commitment to safety.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the operations and/or maintenance of a minerals processing plant, ideally coal.
  • Relevant competencies and Trade or Tertiary Qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices and an understanding of key drivers of a processing plant.
