Title: CHPP Electrical Supervisor
We are currently seeking an Electrical Supervisor, focusing on the Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) at our Wilpinjong mine. Our Wilpinjong mine is an open-cut coal mine located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high-quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets. Producing 12 - 14 Mtpa over the last 3 years, the forecast is for 8 - 10 Mtpa over the Life of Mine.
Supported by our active and present Electrical Engineering Manager, and reporting to the CHPP Maintenance Superintendent, the Electrical Supervisor oversees day to day tasks, statutory inspections as well as ad-hoc electrical maintenance functions within the CHPP in order to optimise the processing performance. There is real ownership in the role, with the Electrical Supervisor able to set and plan their own days and projects. This is a crucial role on our site. And is respected as such. Often appreciated for the variety, the Electrical Supervisor role also assists the open cut complex services with electrical maintenance and projects.
The role lends itself to those that are comfortable with

- being active in the plant with the processing team.
It’s a Monday to Friday roster with an RDO every month, with non shutdown hours being 6am to 4pm. Planned shutdowns are a regular occurrence in the plant, with teams of experienced contractors attending site.
The Role:
With a focus on output to plan, we’re looking for a CHPP Electrical Supervisor who is comfortable managing all aspects of equipment maintenance including preventative maintenance, HV & HV installation, troubleshooting & fault finding, repairs, and commissioning, and using their well developed skillset to strategically respond to variables, ensuring quality output of product and plant availability.
Working amongst maintenance, production and contractor shutdown teams, the CHPP Electrical Supervisor will
- Convert management plan schedules, service report findings and defect notifications into work orders;
- Strategically maintain and schedule these work orders in due regard to priority indicated;
- Provide regular reports showing compliance with schedules;
- Collaborate and work effectively with other Maintenance and Production team members, including Contractors;
- Assist the CHPP team to better understand and manage Equipment Maintenance;
- Solve electrical problems impacting on all production areas;
- Liaise with the onsite EEM, communicating critical issues;
- Identify and implement continuous (CI) improvement strategies targeting safety, reliability and cost saving;
- Carry out required work management duties and ensure that all documentation and data entry is accurately completed;
- Prioritise efforts to reduce breakdowns and their duration, urgent unplanned events and interrupting work which disturbs planned and scheduled work;
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, attention to detail and quality of work;
- Maintain a high level working knowledge of safety processes and procedures.
About You:
The successful candidate will require an Electrical degree or Electrical Trade + Associate Diploma, and it is preferred to demonstrate experience and/or knowledge in the following also:
- Sound understanding of WH&S requirements & safety management systems
- NSW Electrical Supervisors Certificate
- Possess well-developed communication, negotiating and influencing skills and confidence in your knowledge of work management processes
- Project management experience
- Experience using SAP or similar CMMS
- Sound understanding of PLC & SCADA
- HV experience
- Coal processing / mining operations and / or experience troubleshooting crushing, dry & wet screening plants, conveying and hydraulic systems;
- Minimum of C class Manual Drivers Licence
