About the role: 
We are currently seeking a Technical Services Superintendent to join our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture. Our Coppabella Moorvale joint Venture complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role is responsible for the delivery of mine planning and technical services functions for the CMJV. You will be responsible for leading a team of mining engineers and other professionals in the development and delivery of mining schedules to achieve mine plans on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, holding a pivotal role in ensuring technical needs are met.

 

Duties will include:

  • Lead the development and execution of a range of short-term planning outputs in line with medium and long term plans
  • Preparation of detailed and realistic production schedules in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Ensure mine plans and designs incorporate and communicate sound mining engineering, geological and geotechnical considerations and concepts
  • Coordination of input to annual mine plans and aiding in budget development
  • Provide leadership and input into the ongoing management of the mining operation
  • Provide technical support and input into optimisation and continuous improvement opportunities and frameworks
  • Optimise efficiencies between coal quality, scheduling, drill and blast, and loading and hauling operations
  • Monitor and maintain environmental, safety and health requirements
  • Display commitment to coaching and mentoring the team to accomplish business outcomes
  • Operational support including feasibility reporting, stakeholder management, governance and compliance. 

About You

  • Hold a Mining Engineering degree or similar discipline
  • Proven experience in a timely delivery and cost efficient mine planning and scheduling environment
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Senior / Superintendent level position
  • 5+ years’ Open Cut Coal Mining experience in a Truck / Shovel operation
  • Well-developed communication, negotiating and influencing skills and confidence in your knowledge of project management practices
  • Strong commitment to safety and a way of life

This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight (Mon-Fri/ Mon-Thurs) roster with one rostered day off every other week. FIFO from any major East coast cities or DIDO options available to allow for a residential lifestyle.
