We are seeking an experienced Commercial Superintendent to join a high-performing team within a major Australian mining organisation. This critical role supports commercial performance across a large open-cut operation shaping value, efficiency and risk outcomes that directly impact site and corporate results.
About the role
Reporting to senior commercial and site leadership, you will be a key commercial partner across operations, projects, finance and legal. Alternating one week in the Brisbane office with one week at site, you will lead a small, capable team to deliver accurate reporting, insightful analysis and pragmatic commercial advice that drives sound decision-making.
Key responsibilities

Support commercial strategy, governance and reporting for operations and projects

Manage the contracting lifecycle: tenders, evaluation, negotiation, award, variations and claims

Drive category strategies, supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives

Ensure integrity of financial records; steward capital and operating expenditure control

Deliver timely forecasts, variance analysis and performance commentary to leadership

Uphold internal control frameworks and commercial compliance standards

Assist in preparing budgets, five-year business plans and quarterly forecasts with clear insights

Provide robust economic/financial evaluation to support strategic decisions

Build collaborative relationships with site leadership and corporate stakeholders

The lifestyle
This role is Monday to Friday with flexible work options during Brisbane weeks and structured site weeks. (Travel logistics for site rotations are supported.)
About you

Proven experience working at an operating mine site or operational asset (mandatory)

5–8+ years post-graduate experience across commercial/finance/contracts in resources or heavy industry

Strong financial/commercial acumen across budgeting, forecasting and cost control
-
Depth in contracts & procurement (EPC/EPCM/AS-style), claims and risk management

Demonstrated leadership of small teams and ability to work autonomously to deliver uplift

Excellent communication skills; collaborative, solutions-focused and safety-committed

Degree in Commerce, Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related discipline
Experience in mining or large-scale industrial operations is highly regarded.
