Title: Shift Engineer - Electrical
About the role:
We are currently seeking Electrical Shift Engineers for our North Goonyella mine. Our North Goonyella mine is an underground longwall mine located 160 kilometers west of Mackay producing a premium quality, high strength coking coal for export markets.
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, your role will be to provide onshift engineering management to ensure safe and efficient mine operations through routine inspections, repairs, installations and maintenance of mining machinery.
Duties will include:
- Ensure underground mining maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety management plans by demonstrating your commitment to safety as a way of life, including the use of risk assessments, hazard identification and other safety requirement relevant to the role
- Ensuring high compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements and all Peabody and North Goonyella site policies and procedures
- Ensure all statutory inspections and maintenance tooling/safety equipment is maintained and periodic calibrations/inspections are recorded Ensure underground equipment compliance aligns with site standards
- Provide engineering and maintenance support for the electrical tradespersons
- Coordinate maintenance activities
- Execute underground mine maintenance plans in consultation with the shift undermanager by leading the crew to ensure planned and allocated tasks are performed in a safe and competent manner to achieve specified targets
- Provide leadership and direction to maintenance tradespersons, including competency and authorisations, to meet operational requirements
- Liaising with OEMS regarding breakdowns and fault finding
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Complete the engineering review process to assist the process engineers in understanding equipment unplanned delays
- Carry out handover with the previous shift engineer to determine any incidents or engineering issues to will affect your shift.
- Meet with the mining team at the start of your shift to ensure the engineering plan and the mining plans align, review manning and activities in each area. Provide the deputies with a copy of the engineering shift plan for their area.
- Conduct a pre shift meeting with your crew to explain tasks, expectations and answer questions. Review safety alerts, tool box talks, incidents and last 24 hours.
- Ensure tradesmen provide a detailed phone report to you prior to the next shift start time outlining any delays, ongoing issues and parts required. Relay this information to the oncoming shift engineer.
- Ensure all trades are providing detailed information on shift reports and filling out work orders correctly as per the work order flow chart.
- Provide feedback to the process owners if and why planned work was not completed to assist with the planning process.

About you:
- A trade qualification Electrical and advantageous to have post-trade Electrical engineering qualification (or be in the process of obtaining)
- EEHA -Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Areas Competency
- Previous experience supervising the repair and maintenance of underground mining equipment is essential.
- S1, S2, S3 and G2 qualifications
- Proficient with a computerised maintenance management systems (sap), MS Office and project management software
- Uncompromising commitment to safety
- Demonstrated problem solving and a Positive, Can Do Attitude
- Proven leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance plans, as well correct deviations and modify plans where appropriate
- The ability to work a varying shift pattern
- High level of interpersonal skills

- Ability to participate in risk assessments and manage risk
- Strong commitment to safety as a way of life
- Reliable
- Experience with CAT/Komatsu LW and Development equipment will be highly regarded
