About the role:
We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture.  Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets, with an extension of an additional pit at Moorvale South, adding to our coal production.

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with our Environmental Authorities (EA’s) and providing guidance and support to key stakeholders with regards to environment management across the complex.

Duties will include:

• Achieve compliance against the EA’s
• Management of water – surface, groundwater, dams and erosion and sediment control 
• Management of rehabilitation and remediation projects - design, project management, monitoring and reporting
• Management and completion of environmental monitoring and reporting - field monitoring, quality and control, data management and reporting (both internal and external)
• Prepare, maintain and amend the Estimated Rehabilitation Cost (ERC) calculator for each operation and the Peabody Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO)
• Management of contractors and consultants – identifying synergies across the complex
• Development, implementation and management of environmental management documentation – management plans, procedures and action plans
• Identify improvement opportunities for environmental management

The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.  Employees living residentially may have access to a $15,000 housing allowance and may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of rental payments.

About You:

• You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Engineering
• 5 - 6 years’ experience in an environmental role
• Previous experience working in Open Cut Coal Mining is preferred  
• Experience in water management will be highly regarded
• Rehabilitation of mine site landforms will be highly regarded
• Have a commitment to safety as a way of life
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong planning and organisation skills
• Computer literacy
