We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Superintendent at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) Mine. Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets, with an extension of an additional pit at Moorvale South, adding to our coal production.
About the role:
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for managing site safety requirements, implementing and maintaining safety systems while providing guidance to both mine site’s personnel to ensure compliance with legislative obligations and requirements of the Safety Health Management System. You will be part of a dynamic team championing a strong health safety and training culture across the sites, embracing the diverse range of tasks that come with managing separate sites.
Duties will include:
- Collate, provide governance, analyse and report on the mine sites health and safety performance.
- Development of regular reports and presentation materials for the Peabody Safety Leadership Team.
- Review the site reporting of health and safety performance and provide coaching and mentoring to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide expert safety support and advice to the site Statutory, EGM/GM and safety personnel and other functional team members.
- Foster a Safety culture underpinned by continuous improvement and ensure key learnings and improvements are replicated and implemented across the platform.
- Assist in driving consistency in Safety culture, performance and reporting across all Peabody operations.
The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 9 day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or FIFO lifestyle. Employees living residentially may have access to a $15,000 housing allowance and may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of rental payments.
About you:
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
- Thorough understanding of risk management principles
- Thorough knowledge of Coal Mining legislation and its application to the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS)
- Extensive knowledge of training and safety management systems, auditing and incident reporting and investigation.
- Cert IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or Higher) qualification and S1,2,3 Mining Supervisor competency
- Demonstrated knowledge relevant to Vocational Education Training methodologies, strategies, principles and legislation.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of applications
- Possess a strong commitment to behavioural safety and cultural change initiatives.
