We are currently seeking a Heavy Vehicle Fitter at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) – Coppabella Mine.  Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets, with an extension of an additional pit at Moorvale South, adding to our coal production.

 

About the role:

Mining is undertaken using a dozer, truck and excavator fleet which includes Liebherr T282, Terrex MT4400, Hitachi EH4000, Komatsu 830E, Cat 789C, CAT 793D, Cat 793C, Komatsu 930E trucks, CAT 16M & 24M graders, CATD10 and D11 dozers, DE01 Marion 8200 Hitachi EX5500-5, Komatsu, EX2500-1, CAT 6060, Hitachi EX5500-5, Liebe55 R9000, Hitachi EX3600, Komatsu PC250-1, CAT 6060, Hitachi EX2500-1, SH01  PH4100C, SH02 PH 4100XPC Dig Units. Wheeled dozer/dozer and water carts LD10&11  993K, WL05 CAT 994F, WD -WD900, WL11, CAT 993K, CAT - WD854, WC CAT 785C , WC CAT 785CD.   

 

Our team of fitters complete planned and unplanned maintenance of Peabody mining equipment, and are generally split into workshop or field-based maintenance sections.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on mobile machinery to ensure optimal working condition;
  • Prioritise and undertake specified and/or general work to the required standard and within timeframes;
  • Work with the planning and scheduling teams to assist us in increasing our lofty reliability and availability targets;
  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy work environment;
  • Minimise production downtime;
  • Using libraries such as SIS;
  • Participate in and complete shift change, site meetings, communications or reporting requirements to the required standard;
  • Actively engage in the in the Continuous Improvement Program;
  • Compliance with site Safety and Health Management system requirements (for example risk management, SOPs, permits, work instructions etc.).

 

The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 7/7 roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or FIFO lifestyle. Camp accommodation is provided. Employees residing locally may be eligible for the Living Away From Home or Accommodation Assistance allowance, depending on circumstances.

 

About you:

The successful candidate will hold a recognized Mechanical Trade Qualification and have experience in an open cut mining maintenance environment. You will also have:

  • Previous experience working on mobile equipment including but not limited to, Marion 8200 dragline, P&H Electric rope shovels, Caterpillar 6060 and Hitachi Hydraulic excavators, Liebherr T282C and Hitachi EH4000 electric drive trucks. Caterpillar 785/789/793 trucks, Pit dewatering pumps and Caterpillar Ancillary support equipment.
  • Experience with defect inspections, SAP work management systems.
  • A Continuous Improvement commitment and positive attitude towards change.
  • An ability to utilize a broad skill set including 24v electrical along with Medium and light vehicle repairs.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety procedures and disciplines.
  • 3yrs HME experience.
  • Motivated and hard working with a professional attitude.
  • High Risk Work Licence (e.g., Forklift, EWP, Non-Slew Crane), HR Truck Licence, Working at heights/Confined spaces highly regarded.
