About the role:
We are currently seeking a Short Term Mining Engineer to join our Coppabella Mine.  Our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV), located 156 kilometres south west of Mackay. Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations producing premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.


Reporting to the Operations Technical Superintendent, you will assist the planning and execution of safe mine operations through the collaborative development of detailed designs and production schedules.  In addition, you will monitor and report on mine performance metrics and ensure compliance within safety, environmental, legislative and statutory requirements. 


Duties will include:

  • Develop, implement and uphold safe and efficient work practices at all times
  • Design plans and production schedules to best utilise site resources while achieving desired quality objectives
  • Maintain mine performance reporting and utilise data analytics to identify opportunities
  • Monitor progress of operations to ensure short and long-term plans are consistently met within site budget constraints
  • Assist in the development of site budgets and financial forecasts
  • Establish and nurture positive working relationships with all parties


The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 8/6 roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.  Employees living residentially may have access to a $15,000 housing allowance and may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of rental payments.


About you:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ Years planning, scheduling and design experience in Dragline OR Drill and Blast and/or Truck and Shovel operations
  • Proficient in the use of Vulcan, Blast Logic and Spry desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a continuous improvement environment
