About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join our Coppabella mine site. Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.
 

Reporting to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading your team of maintenance personnel to ensure the highest level of technical support is provided for maintenance on site. You will lead the mobile maintenance team by applying “Best Practice” techniques to deliver safe, productive & reliable equipment to the Mining Operations team.
 

Duties will include:

  • Provide dynamic leadership alongside of promoting behaviours in line with Peabody’s company values.
  • Actively promote the four pillars of the Peabody Leadership Model (Inspire, Innovate, Execute, Collaborate)
  • Lead and deliver safe and efficient maintenance by driving a safety first approach and incorporate leading indicators including hazard identification, risk management and Safety Interactions
  • Execute maintenance activities in accordance with the Equipment Maintenance Strategies, focusing on planned maintenance, work order management and service to all site stakeholders.
  • Minimise production downtime & scheduled maintenance through effective planning/delegation techniques
  • Provide clear direction, guidance, coaching and mentoring to ensure your team deliver all business objectives
  • Develop a continuous improvement pipeline to deliver solutions that enhance business outcomes
  • Engage with external stakeholders, OEMs and Maintenance professionals from other Peabody sites


The lifestyle
This position is offered on a 9 day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.  Employees living residentially may have access to a $15,000 housing allowance and may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of rental payments.
 
About You:

  • Relevant Trades qualification Or Engineering Degree.
  • Proven experience in building, leading and mentoring high performing teams in an open cut environment
  • Extensive knowledge of effective planning and execution processes for mobile equipment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with the development of an annual maintenance budget and the management of expenditure/cost management on a monthly basis
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and computerised maintenance management systems (SAP experience is highly desirable)
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment condition monitoring practices
  • Uncompromising commitment to safety
