About the role:

We are currently seeking a Mechanic-Night Shift to join our Maintenance team at our Wild Boar Mine. Wild Boar Mine is a surface coal mine in that produces high quality thermal coal with dozers and shovels to extract and load the coal. Wild Boar Mine serves customers that provide power for residents in Southern Indiana, as well as customers of utilities far beyond the region.

Duties will include:

  • Inspect and trouble shoot all surface mining equipment on the job site.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and catastrophic failure repair.
  • Fuel and grease equipment when required.
  • Keep records of work performed.

 

The Lifestyle:

This position will work Monday-Friday, currently 4-5 days per week. This position may also require the necessity to work weekends, holidays, or another shift as deemed necessary.

About you:

  • One year of experience repairing and troubleshooting large surface mining diesel equipment is preferred.
  • Welding experience is desired.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to operate power tools, hand tools, etc.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to communicate and coordinate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must follow Company, State and Federal regulations, plans and policies.
  • Must have high safety standards for self and others and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to read & understand Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends and holidays at all Somerville Complex locations.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
  • Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
  • Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
  • Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
  • Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 – 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
  • Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area.
