Our Metropolitan mine is an underground coal mining operation located 30 kilometres north of Wollongong in Helensburgh, NSW producing metallurgical coking coal for export and domestic customers.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mine Surveyor to provide professional surveying services at Metropolitan Coal.  In this senior role, you will manage a team of surveyors and contractors, ensuring all statutory and operational survey requirements are met accurately and on time, while reporting to the Technical Services Manager.   You will oversee mapping, drafting, emergency plans, and compliance with legislative standards, while mentoring team members and driving best practices.

Your key responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the mine surveying team to deliver safe, accurate, and timely survey services
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements for mine surveying
• Oversee mapping, drafting, and emergency plans for the site
• Provide critical support to production through the gas drainage and Permit to Mine process
• Maintain accuracy of underground and surface survey networks
• Provide survey support for mine subsidence monitoring and regulatory reporting
• Provide monthly stockpile volumes and calculations
• Work closely with other technical services personnel to support daily production and development activities.

About you:

We are seeking a proactive and detail oriented team player who thrives in fast-paced environments.   To succeed in this role, you will have:

• 5+ years’ experience in underground coal mine surveying
• Tertiary qualifications in Surveying and registered as a Mining Surveyor with BOSSI (NSW) or SBQ (QLD)
• NSW Class C License or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and mine safety standards
• Exposure to and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D, Maptek Point Studio, CompNET and Infinity software, Leica equipment and DJI UAV’s.
• Proven leadership and mentoring capability\
