Job Summary

Responsible for providing leadership and guidance for management and employees to ensure positive employee relations, compliance with policies, procedures and regulations. Will work for the promotion of a culture of inclusion, diversity and continuous improvement. 

Job Description


  • Displaying Peabody's Mission and Values
  • Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management system
  • Act as internal consultant for Employee Relations issues, policy interpretation and disciplinary procedures. Lead investigations as required
  • Provide site employees with a full range of Human Resources support
  • Provide active HR leadership in the promotion and reinforcement of a continuous improvement culture, participate on project teams and provide HR data analysis and support as needed
  • Support all hiring activities for both professional and hourly staffing, including planning, prospecting/recruiting and candidate assessment; coordinate with corporate Talent Acquisitions as needed
  • Provide leadership in the preparation for and management of change as the organization adapts to the evolving business environment
  • Provide employee support, coaching and guidance to ensure positive employee relations; resolve issues and implement proactive strategies to remove obstacles to success
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of employment and management practices
  • Maintain the AA/EEO Program (AA PLan, Applicant flow logs) at the location. Promote diversity and inclusion in all activities
  • Maintain required documentation, personnel files, etc.
  • Assist in training and development needs of employees, with emphasis on front-line supervisor and lead person training and development
  • Provide support to the business leaders for leadership development, performance management, organization development and communications efforts
  • Assist with community relations involvement and management of contributions
  • Ensure that activities comply with safety, environmental and statuatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by the company


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience required
  • HR Certification preferred (SHRM, HRCI, World at Work, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communicaiton skills with demonstrated ability to present self clearly and articulately
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks in an organized, effective manner
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze information effectively
  • Strong character, confidentiality and discretion
Physical Requirements


  • Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone
  • Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents
  • Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person
  • Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.
