The Opportunity
Development is the heartbeat of Centurion. As our Development Superintendent, you will lead the crews and the strategy that prepare the mine for its long term future. This is a role for a leader who thrives on the tools and the "meters," ensuring our development circuits operate with clinical efficiency and safety.
Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of development operations, managing multiple continuous miner sections to ensure we meet the critical milestones required for our 2026 longwall restart.
Your Impact
- Oversee daily development operations, ensuring advance rates and production targets are met without compromising safety or quality.
- Drive a culture of proactive hazard identification and behavioral safety, ensuring compliance with the legislation
- Collaborate with Tech Services and Ventilation teams to manage complex strata conditions and gas drainage requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and upskill a diverse workforce, fostering a high performance culture across all development crews.
- Identify and implement smarter ways of working to optimize cycle times, equipment reliability, and face efficiency.
- Work closely with Maintenance to ensure maximum equipment availability and minimal unplanned downtime.
About You
You are a development specialist who understands that underground mining is won or lost at the face. You have a track record of hitting meters in challenging conditions and a leadership style that commands respect from the crews.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in underground coal development, with proven leadership in a Superintendent or senior Deputy/Undermanager role.
- Must hold QLD Statutory Supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, S3, and G2). A Second Class or First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate is highly regarded.
- Exceptional understanding of continuous miners, bolting systems, and underground infrastructure.
- Previous experience in high gas or complex strata environments within NSW or QLD underground coal.
- A "meter-focused" mindset balanced with a commitment to zero harm operations.
