The Opportunity
Peabody is seeking an experienced Senior Health & Hygiene Advisor to join our team at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.
Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety, Training & Compliance, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all occupational health and hygiene programs across site. This is a key role focused on protecting workforce health, ensuring legislative compliance, driving best-practice occupational hygiene outcomes and supporting the safe and sustainable operation of the mine.
Your Impact
- Lead occupational hygiene programs including dust, noise, vibration and airborne contaminant monitoring.
- Conduct exposure assessments and ensure results are analysed, interpreted and communicated effectively.
- Support risk management processes through the identification of health hazards and implementation of effective controls.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve the site's Health & Hygiene Management Plan.
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to operational teams to promote best-practice hygiene behaviours.
- Ensure compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act, Regulations and Recognised Standards.
- Prepare reports, dashboards and recommendations for site leadership.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across occupational health, hygiene and wellbeing programs.
- Support health-related incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Assist with budget planning and resource allocation for health and hygiene programs.
About You
You are a safety-focused health professional with strong technical expertise, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for protecting workforce health and wellbeing.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Health Science, Environmental Health or a related discipline.
- Experience in occupational health and hygiene within mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of Queensland coal mining legislation and occupational hygiene standards.
- Demonstrated experience using exposure monitoring equipment and interpreting monitoring data.
- Proven ability to identify health hazards, assess risks and implement effective controls.
- Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience preparing technical reports and presenting recommendations to operational leaders.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and workforce wellbeing.
- Strong understanding of risk management and hazard identification.
