The Opportunity

 

Peabody is seeking an experienced Outbye Mining Coordinator to join the team at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

 

Reporting to the Outbye Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with outbye standards across the operation, including stonedusting, secondary support, roadway maintenance, water management, and coal and fines management.

This is a key leadership role that contributes directly to safe production, operational performance and continuous improvement across one of Australia's newest longwall mining operations.

 

Your Impact

  • Deliver performance targets while driving continuous improvement in safety, cost and resource recovery.
  • Lead the implementation and compliance of safety systems, standards and behaviours that support a proactive safety culture.
  • Build, lead and develop teams to achieve departmental objectives and improvement initiatives.
  • Identify training and development opportunities to maintain capability across crews.
  • Develop shift work plans in collaboration with Outbye Mechanical and Electrical Coordinators and other support functions.
  • Manage departmental activities within budget while ensuring spares and consumables are readily available.
  • Identify and report opportunities for operational improvement and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Encourage workforce participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the safe and efficient delivery of production targets through effective planning and coordination.
  • Promote operational excellence through strong leadership and accountability.

 

About You

You are a strong people leader with underground coal mining experience and a passion for safety, operational performance and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar position within an underground coal mining operation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, including identifying risks and implementing safe work practices.
  • Experience leading teams to safely achieve production and business targets.
  • Proven ability to drive best-practice outcomes aligned with operational and business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of business systems and the ability to analyse and utilise operational data.
  • Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, planning and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A proactive approach to leadership and problem-solving.
  • Commitment to Safety, Integrity, Operational Excellence and Courageous Leadership.

About the role:

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Outbye Mining Coordinator to join our Centurion Mine.  Our Centurion mine is located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. For more information on Centurion visit (centurionmine.com.au)

 

Reporting to the Outbye Superintendent, you will ensure compliance is maintained within the mine to Outbye Standards regarding stonedusting, secondary support, roadway maintenance, water management and coal and fines management.

 

 

Duties will include:

Consistently delivering performance targets, analysing and seeking continuous improvement for Safety, Costs & Resource Recovery.
Lead the implementation and ensure compliance with safety systems, practices, behaviours to assist in maintaining a proactive safety culture.
Build, lead and develop the team to deliver departmental plans and continuous improvement objectives (i.e. – identification of upskilling required of crew members and maintain these standards).
Development of shift work plans in collaboration with Outbye Mechanical and Electrical Coordinators and other support functions, within department budget ensuring all spares and consumables are readily available. 
Identifying and reporting opportunities for improvement and assigning corrective actions/tasks to relevant site personnel, whilst encouraging workforce input into these activities.

About You:

Critical to your success will be:

Previous experience in a similar position within an underground mining operation
Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying risks and implementing safe working practices
Demonstrated experience leading a team to safely deliver targets line with business plans
Experience in driving best practise through your department and into the business in line with business goals.
Ability to understand functionality of business systems and extract relevant data for business purposes
Track record in driving continuous improvement
