Title:  North Complex - D&B Planning Engineer

Job Summary

This position is responsible for planning, design and coordination of the Drill and Blast Department at the North Complex.  This involves engineering, mapping and report development.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Missions and Values 
• Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
• Coordinate with the engineering department in mine planning and budgeting for Drill and Blast
• Forecasting on accessory and explosive use
• Examine mining methods and equipment to improve performance
• Prepare drilling and blasting plans
• Responsible for compliance reporting to state and federal entities
• Obtimize drill and blast design and performance
• Conduct safety observations and complete sagety interactions monthly
• Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
• Other duties as assigned by the company

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering
• Two years of mining experience in Drill and Blast
• Have or willing to obtain a Blasting License

Physical Requirements - Office

• Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours
• Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone
• Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents
• Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person
• Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.
