About the role

Be part of a business-critical team that transforms bulk commodities into cash. In this role, you will lead the execution, drafting, and finalisation of all sales contracts and agreements, apply best-practice trade finance operations, and support the oversight of invoicing and settlements across the global Peabody seaborne platform. Working closely with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Logistics teams, you will ensure accuracy, streamline processes, and provide clear inputs to revenue forecasting and budgeting. This position blends hands-on delivery with cross-functional coordination to ensure deals progress smoothly from agreement to cash.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the team in managing documentary letters of credit, proactively resolving discrepancies with banks and customers.
  • Manage the drafting and execution of customer sales agreements and amendments, ensuring full compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Oversee global coal sales invoicing and settlements, monitor month-end cut-off, and resolve exceptions efficiently.
  • Support accurate revenue forecasting and budgeting across the global seaborne platform.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day workflow of the shipping documentation team, providing hands-on support during leave or peak periods.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Legal, Logistics, and Finance to ensure smooth management of the sales-to-cash cycle.
  • Maintain robust controls, ensure audit readiness, and uphold data integrity across systems.

 

The lifestyle:

This role is a Monday to Friday position, primarily based at our Fortitude Valley office, with occasional work-from-home options. It offers flexible start and finish times to accommodate global client hours, along with a ‘redistributed working week’ that lets employees finish at noon on Fridays

 

About You:

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, exhibiting clear and effective leadership qualities.
  • Strong trade finance expertise, with hands-on experience in Documentary Letters of Credit submissions (UCP 600 familiarity highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and execute commercial sales agreements is highly valued.
  • Hands-on experience in invoicing and managing month-end cut-off and close procedures.
  • Strong commercial judgment, keen attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, cyclical environment.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Law (all disciplines welcome)
  • Desirable: exposure to mining, commodities, or logistics, along with experience using ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, or MS Dynamics.
