About the Role

Peabody is seeking an experienced and strategic safety leader to govern and continuously improve our safety management systems and compliance framework across Australian operations. This key corporate role provides assurance to senior leadership that safety systems are robust, effective and aligned with legislative, regulatory and corporate requirements.

What You Will Do

• Lead the governance and continuous improvement of Peabody’s health and safety management systems
• Ensure compliance with coal mining legislation, regulatory standards and corporate frameworks
• Oversee safety performance reporting, audits, assurance programs and corrective actions

The Lifestyle

This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our Fortitude Valley office with flexible start/finish times and a redistributed working week giving employees the option to finish at noon on Fridays.  The role also includes regular travel to Peabody mine sites across Australia

About You

You are a credible, systems‑focused safety professional who thrives in complex, matrix environments and is comfortable influencing senior leaders. You bring a disciplined, assurance‑based approach to safety while driving practical and consistent application across operations.

We are looking for someone who has: 

• Extensive experience in safety systems, compliance and assurance within mining or heavy industry
• Strong knowledge of coal mining legislation, regulatory frameworks and audit processes
• A tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Risk or a related discipline
• Proven experience influencing senior leaders and driving system-wide change
