About the Role
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring Peabody’s external supply network is effectively engaged to support our business needs in a way that optimises value. You will manage strategic sourcing and category strategies for Mine Site Equipment and Parts (both surface and underground), partnering with stakeholders to deliver cost, quality, and supply outcomes.
You will provide commercial insights, negotiate contracts, and oversee category health while driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies for equipment and parts
- Conduct supply market analysis and strategic sourcing activities
- Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring compliance and value delivery
- Provide financial analysis and management reporting to inform decisions
- Maintain SAP system controls and drive process improvement initiatives
- Resolve commercial issues across a portfolio of procurement categories
- Engage with mine sites and corporate stakeholders to align strategies
The Lifestyle
This position is a permanent full-time role working from our Fortitude Valley office. Peabody offers flexible work policies including hybrid office/home working arrangements and ½ day Friday. Occasional site visits to our NSW and QLD mine sites will be required to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and execution of strategic sourcing and contract management activities.
About You
We are seeking a commercially astute category specialist with a strong background in procurement and contract management within the mining sector. You will thrive in a dynamic environment and be motivated by achieving results through collaboration and influence.
You will bring:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in category and/or contract management in mining (essential)
- Strong analytical, reporting, and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, business, commerce, or law (preferred)
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP and/or Ariba advantageous)
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach with outstanding communication skills
