About the role

As a Purchasing Officer at Peabody, you will operate as a Procure to Pay (P2P) specialist, owning the integrity, performance, and optimisation of purchasing and invoice workflows across our QLD and NSW mining operations.

You will sit at the centre of a complex SAP driven ecosystem connecting site operations, suppliers, and shared services ensuring that every transaction is accurate, compliant, and delivered at scale. Beyond processing, you will diagnose system issues, resolve workflow bottlenecks, and shape how P2P operates across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end P2P workflow across purchase orders, receipting, and invoice processing
• Perform and resolve complex 3-way match discrepancies at scale
• Monitor SAP (ECC/S4) workflow health using reporting tools (e.g. VIM, Power BI)
• Act as the escalation point for site teams and suppliers on P2P issues
• Maintain system integrity and ensure audit-compliant documentation standards
• Partner with BPO providers to drive accuracy, efficiency, and service levels
• Support and expand supplier adoption of digital procurement platforms (Ariba)
• Identify and implement process improvements across automation, digitisation, and workflow optimisation

Based in our contemporary Fortitude Valley office, we prioritise a culture of both performance and flexibility. We operate a hybrid model of three days in the office and two days from home, with Tuesdays as our core collaboration day. You’ll also benefit from our redistributed working week, with the flexibility to finish at noon every Friday.

You are a detail-driven professional who thrives in structured, high-volume environments. With a natural “detective” mindset, you take pride in resolving discrepancies before they become issues. You bring a strong foundation in ERP systems (SAP), coupled with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy.

Beyond technical capability, you embody the Peabody mindset acting with integrity, showing accountability, and demonstrating a proactive, solutions focused approach in everything you do.

• To be successful in this role, you will bring:
• Proven experience in SAP Procure-to-Pay / Accounts Payable environments
• Strong capability in 3-way matching, invoice reconciliation, and workflow resolution
• Exposure to SAP VIM, Ariba, or similar digital procurement platforms
• Experience working in shared services or high-volume transactional environments
• A highly analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes and fix process issues
• Confidence working across operations stakeholders and external suppliers
• Exposure to mining, energy, or multi-site environments (highly regarded)
