About the Role

Reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, this role supports the commercial and operational performance of two open cut mine sites in Queensland and in New South Wales.  Based in Brisbane, you will work closely with site and corporate stakeholders to deliver accurate management accounting, cost control, and insightful financial reporting.

This position is well suited to a recent accounting graduate or an accountant with 1–2 years of experience who is looking to build a strong foundation in operational and mining accounting.  You will gain broad exposure across cost reporting, budgeting, capital, and site‑based commercial activities, with strong mentorship and clear development pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
  • Prepare analysis, review and commentary on forecasts and budgets
  • Produce cost reports outlining results, risks, and key issues for weekly meetings
  • Prepare capital reports and support capital request economics
  • Conduct contractor and supplier performance reviews, reconciling invoices to contractual terms
  • Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders across sites and corporate teams
  • Raise purchase requisitions and support procurement processes
    Complete inventory reconciliations and fixed asset reviews
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare the site’s FBT reporting
  • Support the travel and accommodation specialist with travel, accommodation, and camp management
  • Develop capability to become the site commercial SAP champion over time

About You

  • Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or similar qualification
  • 1–2 years experience in an accounting or commercial role (or recent graduate)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Well‑developed organisational and time‑management capability
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Willingness to complete (or already commenced/completed) CPA or CA
  • Comfortable working in a team environment and collaborating with stakeholders
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of financial outcomes
  • High attention to detail with a practical, hands‑on approach
  • Experience using a financial ERP system (SAP exposure advantageous)

The Lifestyle

This position is based in the Fortitude Valley office on a Monday–Friday roster, with flexible work‑from‑home options. Flexible start and finish times and the redistributed working week give employees the option to finish at noon on Fridays. Occasional site travel to Queensland and New South Wales operations will be required.
