We are seeking graduates completing their degrees in 2027, as well as those who have graduated within the past two years. Our two-year program places you on our mine sites, working with technical teams to build practical skills and contribute to leading mining practices. Throughout the program, you’ll gain exposure to both opencut and underground mining operations.
Participants are based at our QLD or NSW mine sites, working alongside full‑time engineers, environmental specialists, and operational leaders while receiving dedicated mentorship. One of our current participants shared the following insights:

- Wilpinjong, Open-cut Mine (NSW): Scenic Mudgee region with wineries, outdoor activities and a strong community.
- Metropolitan, Underground Mine (NSW): Near Wollongong’s beaches, coastal lifestyle and national parks
- Wambo Complex JV, Processing Plant servicing Open-cut Mine (NSW): Close to the Hunter Valley, offering a mix of vineyards, country living and easy access to outdoor recreation
- Coppabella JV, Open-cut Mine (QLD): Queensland open‑cut operations surrounded by iconic landscapes.
- Centurion, Underground Mine (QLD): A tight‑knit underground mining community with strong local culture.

About the Role
As a Graduate Environmental Advisor in our two-year development program, you will step into a permanent role designed to build your technical capability, professional confidence, and onsite experience. You will gain hands-on exposure to environmental management practices, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives while supporting the safe, responsible, and compliant operation of our mining sites.
Throughout the program, you will rotate across different sites and operational environments, giving you a broad and practical understanding of environmental management within a large and diverse mining organisation. Working alongside experienced environmental professionals, operational leaders, and technical teams, you will develop strong foundations in areas such as environmental monitoring, approvals compliance, rehabilitation, water and land management, and incident response. You will also work with industry‑leading tools and systems, including environmental monitoring programs, reporting platforms, and operational data systems.
In this role you will:
- Support day‑to‑day environmental activities across mine sites, ensuring compliance with approvals, licences, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with environmental monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Contribute to rehabilitation, land management, and sustainability initiatives across operations.
- Work closely with operational teams to identify and manage environmental risks and improvement opportunities.
- Use environmental systems and digital tools to support accurate reporting and decision making.
- Take part in structured rotations across different sites to build broad environmental and operational experience.
- Work on real operational, compliance, and improvement projects alongside experienced environmental advisors and site teams.
This two-year program is designed to build your capability step-by-step, combining practical site exposure, technical training, professional development, and ongoing mentorship — preparing you for a successful career as a professional Environmental Advisor in the mining industry.
To qualify for the Peabody Energy Graduate Program, you must:
- Have completed (or will complete by Jan 2027) a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management,
- Enjoy collaborating with others and contributing to shared goals
- Communicate clearly and confidently, with a willingness to grow and take on feedback
- Bring curiosity, initiative, and a genuine enthusiasm to learn on‑site in one of Australia’s most essential industries
